Platform Rules
Whether you're posting a gig as a buyer or completing one as a seller, these are the rules that keep every exchange on GigVia fair, predictable, and safe.
Introduction & Scope
GigVia is a marketplace where buyers post gigs — tasks with clear instructions and a fixed price — and sellers complete them and submit proof of their work for approval. These Platform Rules explain how that exchange works in practice: what's expected of every account, what each side can expect from the other, and how GigVia steps in when something goes wrong.
They apply alongside GigVia's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, not instead of them. By creating a buyer or seller account, or by posting, claiming, or submitting a gig, you agree to follow every rule described on this page.
GigVia provides the marketplace itself — secure payments, escrow, messaging, and a Resolution Center for disputes. Members remain responsible for the accuracy of their own gig instructions and submissions, the quality and legality of the work they exchange, and honest, respectful conduct throughout every gig.
Eligibility & Account Registration
To keep the marketplace safe and accountable, every account needs to meet the following requirements before it can transact:
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your country, to register as a buyer or a seller.
- Registration details — your name, email address, and payment or payout method — must be accurate and kept up to date.
- One personal account per individual. A separate business account is only permitted with GigVia's approval and must be clearly linked to the same verified identity.
- Sellers may be asked to complete identity or payout verification before certain gig categories are unlocked or before a first withdrawal is processed.
- Accounts are personal to the member who created them. They cannot be sold, transferred, rented out, or operated on someone else's behalf.
General Conduct
These rules apply equally to every member, whatever side of a gig you're on:
- Keep all communication professional and respectful. Harassment, hate speech, threats, and discriminatory language are never permitted, in messages, reviews, or submitted work.
- Keep the relationship on GigVia. Payments, files, and communication tied to a gig must stay on the platform — asking or agreeing to pay outside GigVia to avoid fees is a rule violation for both members involved.
- Don't manipulate the marketplace. This includes fake gigs, fake completions, self-dealing through secondary accounts, or any attempt to inflate ratings or completion numbers artificially.
- Never impersonate GigVia staff, another member, or a company you don't represent.
- Respect ownership. Only use content, brands, or material you have the rights to use, whether you're writing gig instructions, submitting work, or messaging another member.
Rules for Sellers (Freelancers)
As a seller, the gigs you claim and the proof you submit are what buyers are paying for. These rules keep that exchange honest:
Choosing gigs
- Only claim a gig if you can realistically complete it, in full, within the completion window shown.
- Read the full instructions and proof requirements before starting — claiming a gig means you've accepted exactly what it asks for.
Submitting your work
- Submit honest, original proof of completion in the exact format the gig requires, whether that's a screenshot, a link, a file, or a written confirmation.
- Never reuse, duplicate, or fabricate proof across multiple positions of the same gig, or across different gigs.
- If you can no longer complete a gig you've claimed, release or cancel it rather than letting it expire silently — this keeps your completion rate accurate and frees the position for someone else.
Rules for Buyers (Clients)
As a buyer, the instructions you write and the reviews you give are what keep the gigs you post fair to complete:
- Write complete, unambiguous instructions and state exactly what proof a seller needs to submit to be approved — sellers can only be held to what the gig actually says.
- Don't change a gig's requirements after sellers have already started working on it. If the scope needs to change, close the gig and post a new one.
- Review submissions within the response window shown on your gig. Submissions left unreviewed are automatically approved once that window passes.
- Only decline a submission that genuinely doesn't meet your stated instructions, and include a clear reason. Declining compliant, correctly completed work to avoid paying is a rules violation.
- Keep your available positions and funding accurate — a gig should only be open for as many completions as you're actually able and willing to pay for.
Prohibited Activities
The following are never permitted on GigVia, for buyers or sellers alike. Depending on severity, a violation can lead to a warning, suspension, forfeiture of related funds, or permanent termination:
- Posting gigs for illegal services, or gigs involving illegal, counterfeit, or stolen material.
- Creating gigs designed to be declined regardless of quality, in order to receive free work or engagement without paying.
- Submitting fabricated, duplicated, or reused proof of completion.
- Buying, selling, or exchanging fake completions, ratings, or reviews.
- Circumventing GigVia's fees by moving payment for a matched gig off-platform.
- Using bots, scripts, or automation to claim or complete gigs meant for manual human work.
- Sharing personal contact details specifically to move a paid exchange outside GigVia.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discriminatory conduct toward another member or GigVia staff.
- Operating multiple accounts to manipulate gigs, reviews, fees, or a suspension.
Gig Lifecycle & Submissions
Every gig follows the same path: posted by a buyer, claimed by a seller, submitted for review, then approved or declined.
- The completion window shown on a gig is binding. Letting it expire without submitting can affect your standing as a seller, so cancel a claimed gig you can't finish instead of leaving it to expire.
- A declined submission isn't paid. Whether it can be corrected and resubmitted depends on that gig's own settings, which are shown before you claim it.
- Either party can request a mutual cancellation before a submission is reviewed. This doesn't count against a seller's completion rate.
Ratings & Reviews
Reviews are what let trust travel across the marketplace, so they need to reflect what actually happened:
- Only buyers whose gig submission was completed and approved can leave a review for that gig.
- Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Reviews exchanged for compensation, written under pressure, or posted in retaliation for a rating are not allowed, in either direction.
- Reviews can't contain personal information, external links, or promotional content unrelated to the gig.
- Sellers may publicly respond to a review once. Asking a buyer to change a rating in exchange for extra work, or pressuring a buyer over a rating, is a rules violation. GigVia may remove a review found to violate these standards after investigation.
Payments, Fees & Taxes
Every payment on GigVia moves through escrow, and every gig shows the applicable platform tax before you confirm it.
When a buyer funds a gig, the total budget — covering every position — is held securely in escrow rather than paid out immediately. Each seller's share moves into their GigVia balance individually, as their submission is approved, or automatically once the buyer's review window closes without a response.
Platform taxes
GigVia applies two separate charges, summarized below.
| Charge | Who pays | Rate | When it applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buyer Service Tax | Buyers | 0% – 3.5% of the amount funded | When a gig is funded, shown before payment is confirmed |
| Seller Withdrawal Tax | Sellers | 20% of the withdrawn amount | Each time a withdrawal is requested |
Withdrawals
Once a submission is approved, a seller's share moves into their GigVia balance and can be withdrawn under the following terms:
- Sellers can withdraw their available balance to a connected payout method once it clears GigVia's standard holding period.
- The 20% withdrawal tax outlined above is calculated automatically and shown, along with the resulting net amount, before a withdrawal is confirmed.
- A minimum withdrawal amount may apply depending on the selected payout method.
- Processing times vary by payout method and may take longer if additional identity or payout verification is required.
Disputes & Resolution
Most gigs never need this, but when a buyer and seller can't agree directly, GigVia steps in as a neutral party:
- If a buyer and seller can't reach an agreement directly through gig messages, either party can open a case in the Resolution Center.
- GigVia support reviews the original gig instructions, the submitted work, and the full message history to reach a decision based on what was actually agreed — not assumptions from either side.
- Possible outcomes include a full or partial refund, release of funds to the seller, a mutual cancellation, or a required correction.
- An account with a repeated pattern of disputes may be flagged for a broader review, regardless of how any single case was resolved.
Account Warnings, Suspension & Termination
GigVia responds to violations in proportion to how serious they are:
- First-time or minor violations typically receive a warning explaining the rule and how to correct the behavior going forward.
- Repeated or moderate violations can lead to a temporary suspension — for example, restricted gig visibility, limited activity, or a paused account.
- Severe violations, including anything listed under Prohibited Activities, can result in immediate, permanent termination without a prior warning.
- Suspended or terminated members can appeal through GigVia Support with supporting context. Appeals are reviewed by a person, not resolved automatically.
Intellectual Property & Confidentiality
Ownership and confidentiality work the same way across every category on GigVia:
- Ownership of submitted work transfers to the buyer once a gig submission is approved and paid for, unless the gig states otherwise.
- Sellers may only deliver original work or material they're properly licensed to use and resell.
- Buyers can't resell GigVia's own materials, a seller's portfolio samples, or gig templates as their own original work.
- Anything confidential shared during a gig — business details, credentials, unreleased material — must stay private and can't be reused or shared outside that gig by either party.
Changes to These Rules & Contact
GigVia may update these Platform Rules to reflect new features, evolving community needs, or legal requirements. Material changes are announced by email or in-platform notice with reasonable notice before they take effect — continuing to use GigVia after that date means you accept the update.
